The Sad Reality of Being an Introvert

We Hate Big Gatherings

Today is Australia Day, which for most of the Australian population means big get-togethers, BBQ’s, drinking and socialising.

Personally, I do love a chance to catch up with friends for a BBQ and a few drinks, but, as an introvert, I do prefer smaller, more intimate celebrations.

Which is why I’m torn today.

A very good friend has invited me to her home for an Australia Day Celebration.

Now, I there will be a couple of people that I know attending (former work mates, who I love dearly) but, I won’t know the majority of others.

It’s always a dilemma for us introverts.

Any time I’m invited to a celebration of sorts, the first thing I do is plan my exit strategy.

Sad but true!

I am that person, who if things are getting even the slightest bit uncomfortable, I need to know the easiest way out.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

I know that there are many introverts who love a big gathering, and then there are those like me who suffer from exhaustion after just a few minutes of being sociable in big crowds.

Are you an introvert? If so, how do you deal with situations like this?
