With all the news about a certain publication being shut down, what does that mean for the stories you published there?

Well, guess what?

Your stories are safe.

Coffee and Conversation

I personally published some articles with Coffee Times and was worried that with the shutdown of the publication, my articles (and yours) would be lost in the abyss of the interwebs, never to be seen again.

But…

Happy Dance!

I’m super stoked to say, after searching through my published articles, I’ve found at least some of my stories are safe.

Note: If you’ve published a story with Coffee Times, your stories will now show as self-published.

Now, breathe.

Lessons Learned

Medium is not the place to be complacent. If you’re an owner or editor of a publication, be sure to read all of the submitted articles before publishing. It might be easy to let one slip through, but if it’s an article that violates Mediums T&C’s, then you are risking being kicked off the platform.

Don’t ignore the rules of Medium. They are there to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. You can find Medium rules HERE.

Coffee Times was marketed as a movement, a positive place, a place to uplift others.

So, What Happened?

A writer submitted a story “Why I hate the LGBTQ Community”. That story was approved. Then the owner of the publication (allegedly) clapped for the story.

WTF? Endorsing a story that is hateful goes against everything that Coffee Times was claiming to embrace.

Clearly, that’s not showing a lot of positivity!

Why Do We Write?
