According to the Urban Dictionary, Vanilla means “unexciting, normal, conventional, boring”.

And, no, I’m not talking about SEX! Take your filthy mind out of the gutter!

Sometimes I feel like I’m Vanilla, or Beige even. I’m that person who hates to be the centre of attention. I don’t always say what I mean and when I do, I tend to be insulting without even trying.

But is that a bad thing?

The one thing I did to stop being so Vanilla was to dye my hair bright pink. Did it help me feel less Vanilla? It did, for a time. Now that everyone knows me as the woman with pink hair, I’m wondering if I should dye my hair blue or multi-coloured like a unicorn.

I’ve never been one who seeks attention, but lately, I do feel invisible. I had to switch off from social media for a while. I quit Facebook for a month. There were too many posts on there that made me feel unworthy.
