Making New Friends As An Adult Is Hard
Making new friends has always been a challenge for me. I’m super shy and introverted, so making real connections is difficult.
Nobody Likes Being the “New Girl”
As a child, I moved towns and schools countless times. I was always the “new girl” and that was not fun at all. Eventually, I would make one or two close friends, but I was never that person who would be found with crowds of friends.
And, it didn’t help that I was constantly bullied over the years. I was shy and timid, so I was the perfect target — I didn’t fight back.
As I progressed to adulthood, making new friends became even harder.
Is This Normal, Or Is It Just Me?
I realised that after leaving my day job and starting working for myself, I lost touch with a lot of the people I used to “hang out” with.
The pandemic hasn’t helped of course.
I tried staying in touch, in fact, I was the one always messaging people. I worked hard at trying to stay connected.
