What is Shiny Object Syndrome?

Shiny Object Syndrome is also called “SOS”. It’s a term used for people who focus on a shiny, new object, or idea. Generally, that person will be found chasing new trends, ideas and opportunities.

Consider how many courses you’ve signed up for that you haven’t completed. Or how many ebooks you’ve downloaded that you haven’t read. Or how many email newsletters you’ve subscribed to that you never have time to read.

Shiny Object Syndrome could also be considered FOMO.

What Is FOMO?

FOMO is a fear of missing out.

FOMO could be considered a form of social anxiety. If you suffer from FOMO, you have a compulsive concern that you might miss an opportunity or satisfying event. More people are suffering from FOMO due to social media.
