Are Those Cremated Remains Really My Parents?

Ashes To Ashes, Dust To Dust

Both my parents died some time ago. The funeral home is holding onto their ashes until my brother and I can return to claim them.

Now, I’ve always wondered; do those ashes really belong to my parents? So I needed to do some research. Morbid much?

“Cremated remains are not ashes in the usual sense. After the incineration is completed, the dry bone fragments are swept out of the retort and pulverized by a machine called a Cremulator.”

A Cremulator is something like a high-capacity, high-speed blender; it processes the remains into “ashes” or “cremated remains”.

So, I’m wondering; what should we do with my parents?
